A report by Andrew Ivins of Inside the U Miami Hurricanes wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield might not return to Coral Gables following the firing of offensive coordinator Dan Enos on Friday.

Taylor Stubblefield had stints with seven college football programs and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League in 2016 where he played professionally. The likely departure for Stubblefield from the Miami Hurricanes is tied to the former Purdue wide receiver being a protege of Enos.

Stubblefield was the WR coach at Central Michigan in 2011 under Enos. He also had stints at Utah (2014-15), Wake Forest (2013), New Mexico (2012), Illinois State (2009-10), Eastern Michigan (2008) and Central Washington (2007). The Miami WRs did not grow much this season and lost two players who transferred.

Marquez Ezzard transferred back home to Georgia Tech after spending the 2018 season with Miami. Brian Hightower entered the transfer portal midseason. Other than K.J. Osborn the Miami wide receivers were inconsistent this season. Osborn led Miami with 50 receptions for 547 yards and five touchdowns.

The graduate transfer from Buffalo became the second Hurricanes receiver to lead Miami in receptions, receiving yards and receiving yards in the last three seasons. Current New York Jet Braxton Berrios accomplished the feat during Miami’s ACC Coastal title season in 2017. Someone is going to have to step up at WR in 2020.

Andrew Ivins of Inside the U is reporting that Stubblefield is likely to be replaced by head coach Manny Diaz. Ivins received the information from Miami four-star WR signees Daz Worsham and Michael Redding III who were told by Hurricanes’ strength and conditioning coach David Cooney, Stubbfield could be replaced.

Offensive line coach Butch Barry who also worked for Enos at Central Michigan and could be replaced by the Hurricanes during the offseason. Running backs coach Eric Hickson who was hired by Diaz, not Enos appears to be safe. The irony is that the running game was the biggest downfall for the 2019 Miami offense.

Miami is 122nd out of 130 teams in FBS averaging 118.8 yards per game. Hickson played a big role in Miami securing two of the nation’s top 10 running backs in the class of 2020. Don Chaney Jr. and Jaylan Knighton should help the Miami running game in 2020. As of now, all the RBs will be back except DeeJay Dallas.

Dallas announced he was entering the NFL Draft on Friday after being lost for the season with a fractured elbow against Florida International last month. At receiver, Miami loses Osborn and junior Jeff Thomas who like Dallas decided to skip his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. Miami needs to add experience at WR.

There are dozens of wide receivers that the Miami Hurricanes could target in the transfer portal. That includes former Penn State five-star signee Justin Shorter and  Tre’Shaun Harrison who played for Florida State. Adding a player with Osborn’s experience and leadership to Mike Harley, Dee Wiggins and Mark Pope can only help.
