Duffey is equally adept at running the football. The rising senior added 212 yards and one rushing TD in 2019. For his career, mostly as a sophomore and junior, Duffey has completed 66.0 percent of his passes for 4,077 yards, 26 TDs and 11 interceptions with 587 yards rushing and five TDs. There are a plethora of other portal QBs.

The other name to watch could be Boston College QB, Anthony Brown. Brown led a run-oriented offense under former head coach Steve Addazio. The Eagles upset Miami in Chestnut Hill in 2018. Brown has struggled with accuracy throughout his career. That has been an issue for Perry and Malik Rosier before him.

Brown has completed 54.9 percent of his attempts for 4,738 yards, 40 TDs and 20 Ints in three seasons with Boston College. Brown played in only six games in 2018 after sustaining a season-ending leg injury against Louisville on October 5. Brown also needs to clean up his TD-Int ratio. He has 421 career rushing yards and four TDs.

It is not definite that the Miami football program will sign a QB through the transfer portal again. They very likely could lose Martell, Perry or Williams. That would leave the Hurricanes thin with four scholarship QBs on the roster. Diaz and Lashlee could be confident that the new offense could elevate the Hurricanes QB play.
