In 2013 Orgeron was the interim head coach after Lane Kiffin who of course was just hired to be the head coach at Mississippi was fired at the airport. After leading the Trojans to six wins in their final eight games Orgeron was bypassed for Washington head coach

Steve Sarkisian

to replace him.

Orgeron resigned from USC, took a year off and was hired by Les Miles to be the defensive line coach at LSU. A season later Orgeron replaced Miles and was named interim head coach in late September. Like at USC, Orgeron led the Tigers to six wins in their final eight games. This time he was named the permanent head coach.

The Joe Burrow era at LSU began with a dominant 33-17 victory over Miami at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on the Sunday night of Labor Day Weekend in 2018. The 2019 Heisman Trophy winner had one of the worst performances of his career against the Hurricanes. Burrow finished 11-24 for 148 yards in his LSU debut.

After the season Orgeron hired Joe Brady away from the New Orleans Saints to become the passing game coordinator for LSU. No one could have expected the season Burrow and the Tigers have had. Miami added Rhett Lashlee from SMU as their new offensive coordinator and will hope for the same upgrade.
