A season-ending knee injury was the end of Hattis’ Stanford tenure. Per Ivins, Hattis is expected to graduate from Stanford in May. That would keep Hattis out of spring practice for Miami. There are several other offensive linemen the Hurricanes are expected to contact soon.

Ivins’ Inside the U colleague David Lake examined other potential offensive linemen in the transfer portal who could consider Miami. Devin Cochran of Vanderbilt, Terrance Davis of Maryland and Coy Cronk of Indiana are all names to watch. It’s beyond unlikely but Miami could sign an entirely new offensive line adding all five.

More realistically, Corey Gaynor at center, left guard Navaughn Donaldson and right tackle Delone Scaife who could move inside are safe as starters entering 2020. Miami is more likely to add two offensive linemen through the portal. Getting bookend offensive tackles will go a long well towards helping Rhett Lashlee’s new offense.

Cochran is a massive 6-7, 318 pounds and started nine games at left tackle for Commodores in 2019. Lake reported that Cochran played 1,948 snaps during his three seasons with Vanderbilt. Cochran allowed just one sack in 2019. Miami left tackle Zion Nelson allowed a Power Five leading 12 sacks in 2019.

Cochran would be a figurative and literal huge addition to the offensive line for the Miami football roster. Ivins reported on January 8 that Miami head coach Manny Diaz has contacted Cochran on either the sixth or seventh of January.  Cochran is another May graduate and he will evaluate his next destination methodically.

"“I don’t want to wait too long, but I do want to evaluate my options and choose the best place for me to succeed. I’m thinking some time in the next few months, I won’t hold out all the way to April or anything like that."
