There’s been a lot of talk, maybe too much talk, about

Alonzo Highsmith

coming to Miami to take over football operations. If anyone thinks that Alonzo would come into the University of Miami and be the savior of the football program overnight they are mistaken. That’s not to say he would be a great tool to have in our toolbox.

There is a good reason people want him home. That said we have already added to our toolbox. Dan Enos is out and a proven offensive coordinator, Rhett Lashlee, has taken over. Multiple games could be attributed to losses over kicking last season due to those issues alone. Head coach Manny Diaz went out and found a kicker.

The year before Miami struggled with punting issues and this year punting was not even a concern. Problems can be fixed. It seems that the Hurricanes are eager to go find itself a veteran quarterback to put into the mix. Again it’s best to look at these things as tools in the toolbox because no one man makes or breaks a team.

This lack of being a team becomes the greatest concern I see right now. We need more guys in the locker room like (graduated linebacker) Shaq Quarterman. Without a starting QB, there is no leadership on offense. Pick your QB and live with him.
