Back in the 1980s, the Miami football program was just more a tight, self-motivated team. A lot of these guys grew up together and have known each other for a very long time because back in those days a player in South Florida would not go anywhere but the University of Miami and that, unfortunately, has changed.

The most important thing the Miami football team can do in this off-season is to take this group of talented athletes they have and find a way to mesh them together into a single unit playing as one team. Enough of the individual accolades. It’s time to get rid of the chain and I even think it’s time to take the names of players off the jerseys.

The University of Miami football team need to come together as a single unit. It sounds silly to say that there can’t be enough team-building exercises but maybe that’s just what we need. We all have to face the fact that the past is just that, the past.

It was amazing to be a part of, something we will never forget. Building a championship-caliber team off what was done before most of these players were born is not realistic. We have to evolve into a new team with new players. That team must create their own glory. We can’t live on what was, but focus on what will be.
