Miami football should be helped recruiting transfer QB by Joe Brady leaving LSU
The hiring of passing game coordinator Joe Brady by the Carolina Panthers as their offensive coordinator should help the Miami football program in their recruitment of Houston quarterback D’Eriq King who entered the transfer portal Monday night.
The Miami football program has already reached out to former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King to join the Hurricanes for the 2020 season according to Andrew Ivins of Inside the U. LSU who was considered the prohibitive to sign King before passing game coordinator Joe Brady was hired as the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator.
Brady revolutionized college football with the passing game LSU had in 2019 led by Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Joe Burrow. The Tigers went from the euphoria of winning the national championship on Monday night to the favorites to sign King this afternoon to losing Brady late Tuesday afternoon.
Prior to Adam Shefter of ESPN releasing the initial report that Brady was leaving for the Panthers, LSU was considered the favorite to sign King. Nick Kosko of 247Sports reported that LSU, Arkansas and then Miami in that order were the leaders to sign the dual-threat quarterback. Brady leaving the Bayou could change King’s recruitment.
Everything with what schools King is considering and where he will even visit is very fluid. Brady leaving LSU to join former Baylor head coach Matt Ruhle in Charlotte is only a few hours old at the time of this post. Replicating what Brady did with the LSU offense with a different coach and a new QB will be difficult.
It remains to be seen if LSU can compete for the national championship without their two star young Joes. The Tiger Joes are going pro. Brady leaving for Miami, for now, is a positive for the Miami football program. As it stands the Hurricanes have the young, dynamic offensive mind in new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
LSU still has offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger. Ensminger is a good coach but he is not the innovative offensive mind that Brady is. Lashlee could provide King with the type of offense that would fit his talents. The two are familiar with each other as rivals in the American Athletic Conference Western Division.
