This is something any Miami Hurricanes fan who pays attention to Twitter and social media can’t help but notice. Most recently there was what can only be described as a huge outpouring of demand to bring Alonzo Highsmith into the program.

The reality is, it doesn’t seem as though that is going to happen. The Miami Hurricanes football program is not going to hire Alonzo Highsmith. That said it does not mean Highsmith did not give some incredibly good advice in terms of something I have previously raised.

When you have the ability to attract so many three and four-star recruits it really falls on the position coaches to better do their jobs. The development of the players is any football team’s responsibility. Even an insanely and naturally gifted player like Greg Rousseau needed to be developed.

Sure Rousseau would have been really good but now is great. So great in fact he is certain to draw national attention. If you look at him today physically versus the day he first set foot on campus you can see that development.

Clearly the QB situation has been a problem but how much is on our players? We are going on our third QB coach in three years. Miami Hurricanes fans had high expectations for recently fired offensive coordinator Dan Enos and he was not a good fit at Miami so the Canes went and made a change.

Now there is a lot of talk about getting a new QB. It seems like a year ago we were thrilled to get Tate Martell. We tried to get former Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts and Ohio State QB Justin Fields but Martell is who landed with the Hurricanes. Now what? He actually is well suited for this new offense in my opinion.

Jarren Williams and N’Kosi Perry also are really good too. Maybe Miami will get Houston transfer, D’Eriq King. Maybe we won’t. You can’t always get what you want. One thing we as a fan base can do is be more positive. There is never, ever, under any circumstances a reason to openly be critical of our players publicly.

"Some unwanted advice for our fanbase:1) Be positive2) Know that just because you don’t get a response, players read this stuff.3) Be positive4) Know that potential recruits read our tweets."

Let’s be a great fanbase. We need to think about keeping our dirty laundry to ourselves and not forget that any one person with a Twitter account has the ability to put out a post that can cause a player to either want to leave or never to come to Miami.

Look at what happened with wide receiver Lawrence Cager last year. Was he perfect? No. Was the morale of the team good? No. Was the morale of the fans good? Heck no. Cager left and it was the right move for him. He improved his play. Countless Georgia fans thank us for giving him to them.

Personally I am happy for him. Happy for his success on the field and off. If you want to help it’s better to be part of the solution then the problem. Maybe next time you post or comment try and be a little more positive. Send some good vibes to our players. Boost them up a little and trust the coaches to do what they are paid to do.
