Former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King who is visiting with the Miami football program this weekend could be leaning towards the Hurricanes according to one report.

Andrew Ivins of Inside the U reported on Saturday morning that the Miami football program could be in prime position to land dual-threat quarterback D’Eriq King per multiple sources. The Hurricanes are emerging as the favorite to sign the dynamic signal-caller. Cautious optimism is needed as King is still weighing his options.

King was still in Coral Gables as of Saturday morning meeting with the Miami coaching staff per Ivins. King is still expected to take his trip to Maryland at some point on Saturday. Maryland and Miami are reportedly the only visits that King currently has scheduled. Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU are among other suitors.

Ivins reported earlier this week that Arkansas was likely out. Friday was the last day to register for classes in Fayetteville. Former Florida QB Feleipe Franks was purportedly taking a visit to Arkansas this weekend. Classes starting would not completely eliminate the Razorbacks. Arkansas has a key connection to King.

King had his best season at Houston in 2018 under new Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendall Briles. King completed 63.5 of his passes for 2,982 yards passing and ran for another 674 yards and 14 touchdowns that season. King set the FBS record that season for QBs when he ran for a TD in 15 straight games.

Ivins reported that the visit between King and Miami went very well. The recruitment of the top QB in the transfer portal continues to trend towards Miami. King would be expected to be a perfect fit for Miami in the spread and high tempo under new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. Lashlee and King are familiar with each other.
