Former Texas Tech quarterback Jett Duffey is on is way to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to play for the Chippewas of Central Michigan in 2020 according to multiple sources. The Miami football program was once thought to be a possible destination.
Former Texas Tech quarterback Jett Duffey who was thought to be a target of the Miami football program as a graduate transfer via the portal is on his way to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, the home of Central Michigan University. The Chippewas were coached by former Miami offensive coordinator Dan Enos from 2010-14.
Enos was 26-36 in his five seasons as the head coach of Central Michigan. Maybe Enos’ sub .500 record with the Chippewas should have foreshadowed what was to come with the offense for the Miami football team in 2019. Duffey led Texas Tech in rushing as a sophomore in 2018 and led the team in passing as a junior in 2019.
Duffey has completed 66 percent of his passes for 4,077 yards 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He ran for 587 yards and five scores on the ground with Texas Tech. Miami is currently making a feverish pitch for former Houston QB D’Eriq King who is regarded as the top signal-caller in the transfer portal.
Duffey committed to Tulane earlier this month. Less than 48 hours later Duffey posted on Twitter that he decided to keep his recruitment open. The decision for Duffey to find another school came after he was denied academic admission into Tulane. Duffey joins a Central Michigan program that won the 2019 MAC West title.
Of the stacks of QBs in the transfer portal, Miami seems to be going all-in on King. Former Boston College QB Anthony Brown who is still considering a return to Chestnut Hill has been another possibility talked about for Miami. King visited Coral Gables this weekend. According to multiple reports, everything went well.
King was scheduled to visit Maryland commencing Saturday following his trip to Coral Gables. Other possible destinations for the multi-talented, dual-threat QB are primarily SEC based. Alabama, Arkansas and defending national champion LSU have all been mentioned. LSU has a rapidly changing coaching staff.
