Under Mark Dantonio, Michigan State has stumbled to identical 7-6 records in each of the last two seasons. The Spartans went 10-3 in 2017, but that was preceded by a 3-9 2016 season. Dantonio is facing a season at the crossroads for the Michigan State football program. The Hurricanes have

won all four games

against the Spartans.

Miami begins ACC play against Pittsburgh on October 3 at Hard Rock Stadium. After the Panthers dashed the College Football Playoff dream for Miami in 2017, the Hurricanes have come back the last two seasons and held Pittsburgh without a touchdown in a two-game winning streak. The Panthers return QB Kenny Pickett.

Miami will play its only weekday game of 2020 when the Hurricanes travel to Wake Forest for a Friday night kickoff in Winston-Salem October 9. The Demon Deacons lost QB Jamie Newman to the transfer portal but will have former Florida State signal-caller Sam Hartman for 2020. Miami-Wake should be wide open offensively.

The game at Wake Forest is followed by what has become a dreaded bye week in Coral Gables. It will be the only one Miami has in 2020. Counting the Independence Bowl, Miami was 0-4 following a bye week in 2019. It will be something Manny Diaz has to work on for 2020. The Hurricanes host North Carolina October 24.
