Miami Hurricanes tributes to Kobe Bryant prevalent throughout social media

played at Miami on two national championship teams from 1989-92. He is currently the head coach at Oregon. Ducks all-American basketball player Sabina Ionescu had a special relationship with Bryant. Cristobal paid tribute as did the Oregon and Oregon State women’s teams prior to their game Sunday.

The tragedy that befell Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in the helicopter crash on a foggy Sunday in Southern California is one that Miami Hurricanes fans can relate to. As has been said it had an eerie comparison to the deaths of Brown and Taylor.

The death of Gianna struck down a young girl on the verge of stardom. Many projected her to be a great woman’s basketball player. Kobe had NBA dreams for his daughter. Bryant told a story that fans would often come up to him and say he needed a son to carry on his legacy. Her response was that “I got this.”
