The talent is there for the Miami defense to continue to be one of the best in the country in 2020. Joining Rousseau on the defensive line in 2020 will be 2019 transfer,

Jaelan Phillips

, from UCLA and graduate transfer

Roche was named All-American by select media outlets following a stellar 2019 season with Temple. He finished with 49 tackles, 19 TFLs and 13 sacks. Phillips was the number one recruit in the nation overall in 2017. No team in the country can boast the resume that those three bring to the table for Miami in 2020.

Roche was ranked even lower than Rousseau as a high school senior. He was the 1,469 ranked player, 84th ranked defensive end and 36th ranked player overall in Maryland that is a state with good but not an abundance of football talent. Roche and Rousseau will likely be the two most productive players on the 2020 Miami defense.

There are 36 scholarship players on the Miami defense in 2020. The Hurricanes have 16 four-star players and Phillips as the lone five-star signee coming out of high school. Six four and five-star players are on the Miami defensive line. Four of those are at defensive end and two at tackle. Miami will be elite rushing the passer in 2020.
