Legendary Miami Football alum Dwayne Johnson will announce SB LIV introductions
Miami football alum, former pro wrestler and iconic actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will announce the player introductions for Super Bowl LIV.
Connections to the University of Miami will abound as the Super Bowl returns to the Hurricanes home at Hard Rock Stadium for the first time in 10 years. One of the most iconic names in Miami football history, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will announce the player introductions on Sunday for Superbowl LIV.
Johnson is scheduled to announce the player introductions for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at 6 PM ET according to NFL.Com. Another connection to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday is Jennifer Lopez as the halftime entertainment with Shakira. J-Lo is currently coupled with Miami native Alex Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is a benefactor to the Miami baseball program. He donated $3.9 million in 2003 for renovations at Mark Light Field. A-Rod’s donation led to the renaming of the venue to Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. Lopez and Rodriguez attended the Notre Dame-Miami Football game in 2017.
Superbowl week has given Johnson a chance to return to his roots. Injuries derailed his football career at Miami. He was famously replaced in the lineup by future Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp. Johnson went on to a prolific wrestling career following in the footsteps of his father who recently passed away.
Johnson will have a huge presence for Superbowl LIV. The Rock pre-filmed a segment with Fox NFL Sunday host and Miami Hurricanes legend Jimmy Johnson, Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski. Dwayne Johnson was a member of Miami’s 1991 national championship team.
Johnson returned to South Florida as a financial advisor who was a retired NFL Player in the HBO series Ballers about professional football players. The show initially took place in Miami before relocating to Las Vegas. Johnson began his acting career in 2001 in the Sequel The Mummy Returns as the Scorpion King.
Johnson is part of a special celebration in the pre-game festivities. The NFL is celebrating its 100th season. It’s fitting that the Chiefs are in the Superbowl in the NFL’s 100th season in an AFC city. Kansas City represented the AFC in Superbowl I in a 35-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
San Francisco defeated Green Bay 37-20in the NFC Championship game to reach their first Superbowl since losing to the Baltimore Ravens in SB XLVIII. San Francisco is trying to win its first title since a dominant 49-26 victory in Superbowl XXIX that was also played at Hard Rock Stadium.
Other pregame festivities will include the greatest moment in NFL history as voted on by the fans, a formal celebration of the NFL 100 All-Time team, a performance by Miami legend Pitbull at 4 PM ET, America the Beautiful sung by Yolanda Adams and Demi Lovato performing the Star-Spangled Banner.
