Back into the transfer portal

Manny Diaz made the transfer portal into an art during the 2019 offseason. Few of those moves made a significant impact during 2019. The prevailing thought is that the players being brought in through the portal in 2020 will have a greater impact.

Quarterback D’Eriq King, defensive end Quincy Roche and kicker Jose Borregales are more accomplished than any of the 2019 signees through the transfer portal. King had a legendary season at Houston in 2018.

One of the Heisman Trophy favorites in 2020, King had 36 TD passes and 14 rushing TDs before missing the end of the season in 2018. King chose to redshirt after four games in 2019 with the cougars off to a 1-3 start. King immediately upgrades the QB room for Miami and the talent at the position.

The Hurricanes will be able to bring along star freshman Tyler VanDyke and to possibly redshirt him in 2020. Tate Martell and N’Kosi Perry will have a year to learn before their redshirt senior seasons in 2021. Roche was an all American for Temple in 2019.

Roche will team with elite pass rusher Greg Rousseau and Jaelan Phillips to give Miami one of the best pass rushes in the country in 2020. Kicking cost Miami two to three victories in 2019.

Borregales moves across town from FIU after making three field goals including two from more than 50 yards in the Panthers shocking upset victory over Miami in 2019.
