Miami football five things to love in 2020
Category 2020 signing class finishes 13th in the country
A three-game losing streak by the Miami Hurricanes to Florida International, Duke and Louisiana Tech to end the 2019 season could have completely derailed the 2020 singing class. Miami had a few players de-commit, but the job Diaz and his staff did in signing the elite players did they was an exceptional accomplishment.
Miami has the highest-ranked incoming freshman class among teams with a losing record by at least ten spots in the rankings. Flipping four-star running back Jaylan Knighton and four-star defensive back Jalen Harrell from Florida State came shortly after the Hurricanes defeated the Seminoles in November.
Four-star safety Avantae Williams became the highest-ranked player in the class when he signed on the traditional national signing day in February. The Hurricanes were able to get Williams to sign with them after he was unanimously projected to sign with Florida. Williams was one of four safeties Miami signed for 2020.
The momentum for the Miami football program has continued into the 2021 class. Running back Thad Franklin who de-committed in December, re-committed to the Hurricanes in February. Franklin re-joining the 2021 class vaulted the Hurricanes to fifth nationally. The new talent Miami signed has greatly improved the roster.
