The 2019 Miami football schedule ended with the Hurricanes playing eight of their 12 regular-season games against Bowl teams. The Hurricanes 2019 opponents finished the postseason with a 4-4 record.

The Miami football team began the 2019 season with a 24-20 loss to Florida in the first game of the year between two Power Five programs. The Gators finished the 2019 season with an 11-2 record and defeated Virginia 36-28 in the Orange Bowl. Miami defeated the Cavaliers 17-9 in October at Hard Rock Stadium.

After their first of three bye weeks in 2019 Miami traveled to Chapel Hill to play North Carolina in their ACC Opener. Poor placekicking and the inability for the defense to get off the field ultimately led to a 28-25 loss to the Tar Heels and the first 0-2 start for the Miami football team since pre-Howard Schnellenberger in 1978.

North Carolina trounced Miami’s 2020 season-opening opponent Temple 55-13 in the Military Bowl. The 55 points scored by the Tar Heels in their victory over the Owls was the second-highest of the 2019 bowl season only to the 63 LSU scored in their victory over Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl allowing 28 against the Sooners.

Miami returned home week three and crushed FCS Bethune-Cookman 63-0. The Wildcats finished the 2019 season 7-4 and did not qualify for the postseason. Week four Miami hosted Central Michigan. Former Miami offensive coordinator Dan Enos was the head coach of the Chippewas from 2010-14.

The Hurricanes slogged through a 17-12 victory that had many scratching their heads about a game that Miami was expected to win big. Far too often people react to the performance of a Power Five team against a Group of Five team because of the name on the front of the jersey. Antonio Brown is among their alums.
