Georgia Tech finished the 2019 season 3-9. FIU went 6-7 but at least qualified for a bowl with some help with the victory over Miami. The Hurricanes collapsed in the loss to Georgia Tech. Miami had a breakdown in coverage on a fake punt that allowed a TD and missed three field goals. That was Miami’s only loss in five games.

Following the loss to Georgia Tech, the Hurricanes appeared to turn their season around. A hard-fought victory on the road at Pittsburgh was followed by a dominant defensive performance against Florida State and Williams’ record-setting game with six TD passes against Louisville. The Panthers played in the Quick Lane Bowl.

Pittsburgh played Eastern Michigan at Ford Field in Detroit. The Eagles played about 40 minutes from their campus in Ypsilanti. A 37-yard TD pass from Kenny Pickett to Taysir Mack with 47 seconds remaining gave Pittsburgh a 34-30 victory over Eastern Michigan to finish the season 8-5.

Florida State and Miami have mirrored each other the last two seasons. Miami is 13-13 over the last two seasons, Florida State is 18-20 over the last three years. After losing seven straight games to the Seminoles the Hurricanes have flipped the script and won the last three. Miami had seven sacks against FSU in a 27-10 win in 2019.
