Miami football alums best NFL Combine performances

VanDyke played three seasons in the NFL. The cornerback played in 14 games as a rookie with the Oakland Raiders in 2014, starting four games. VanDyke played his final two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 25 career games in the NFL, VanDyke had 17 tackles, one interception and four pass breakups.

Bench press: OT Ereck Flowers 2015

Ereck Flowers led all NFL Combine participants and set the all-time Miami Football alum record with 37 reps on the bench at 225 pounds in 2015. Flowers topped former Miami defensive tackle Vince Wilfork by one rep. Wilfork put up 36 reps on the bench press in 2004. Flowers was the ninth pick by the New York Giants in 2015.

Vertical jump: Horace Copeland

Former Miami wide receiver Horace Copeland recorded a 43.5-inch jump in the vertical leap in 1993. In three seasons on the Miami football team, Copeland finished with 84 receptions for 1,424 yards, 17.0 yards per receptions and seven TDs. Copeland was a fourth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1993.

The athletic 6’3 wideout played four seasons with Tampa Bay and one with the Miami Dolphins. Copeland finished his NFL career with 115 receptions for 1,977 yards and matched his college number with seven TDs. Copeland continued to be a deep threat in the NFL averaging 17.2 yards per reception throughout his career.

Broad jump: David Njoku 2017

David Njoku added an impressive performance at the 2017 combine to a breakout season as a redshirt sophomore season in 2016. For Njoku to break the record in the broad jump at 133 inches that was previously held by Andre Johnson who the third pick in the 2003 NFL Draft was exceptional from a tight end.
