The Miami football program hosted Ryan Rodriguez the 10th ranked center in the country in 2021 on Thursday and the Hurricanes are the current favorites to receive a commitment per 247 Sports.

Ryan Rodriguez the 11th ranked center in the class of 2021 was impressed with the Miami football program as told to Inside the U on Thursday following his visit to Coral Gables. Miami leads for 6’3, 280 Rodriguez according to 247Sports.Com, the partner site for Inside the U. Rodriguez also posted to Twitter about his visit.

Redshirt junior Corey Gaynor and sophomore Jakai Clark are the main centers on the Hurricanes roster this spring with senior guard Navaughn Donaldson who is out injured also able to anchor the middle of the Hurricanes offensive line. Offensive tackles Jalen Rivers and Chris Washington are the only 2020 signees on the Miami OL.

New Miami football coaches, offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and offensive line coach Garin Justice are doing an excellent job in a short time since being hired in January building the Miami offensive line for the 2021 class. The Hurricanes received a commitment from OT four-star Michael McLaughlin last week.

The Hurricanes have held on to four-star offensive guard Laurence Seymore since Lashlee and Justice joined the Miami football staff. Rodriguez spoke to Inside the U extensively about his visit. The Hurricanes are in a great position to sign Rodriguez by own account and according to 247Sports.Com.

"“Miami’s in a great spot…I just wanted to see how practice was going. Today was the first day they were in pads so I wanted to get out there and see how the offense looks and they looked good today. It looked like it was flowing. Once everyone gets comfortable I think they are going to be really dangerous."

Rodriguez seems to be very comfortable in the Miami football program with Justice, the Hurricanes staff and players. The potential 2021 signee compared how Justice coaches to Miami Columbus where Rodriguez attends and mentioned the passion of the Hurricanes players during the well known Big Cane drill.

"“It’s really similar to what we do at my school is now…It’s a lot of individual periods where we are just focusing on technique and fixing the thing we messed up on earlier which is good, I like that. [Coach Justice] isn’t really going to yell or talk down on you. He’s going to help you and give you advice and all that stuff. In the film, he was really good too…He was just talking about the energy and the ‘Big ‘Cane’ drill…That was the first time I have seen that and everybody was pretty hyped up for that. Everyone looked like they wanted to be there today.Everyone was cheering, everybody was loud and in this offense, you can’t really be slow, you always have to be active.”"

Rodriguez further discussed he is in contact with 247 four-star OT Eli Sutton and that the tandem was tagged on a twitter post about signing after McLaughlin committed to Miami. Rodriguez made clear that he and Sutton will make their own decisions about which football programs they will choose to sign NLIs with.

Miami is one of several schools listed as warm with a chance to sign Sutton. The Hurricanes drastically need to add depth on the offensive line in the 2021 signing class. Miami is still rebuilding upfront after a disastrous 2019 season protecting the QB and clearing paths in the running game.
