Injuries to several positions on the Miami football team have provided opportunities for multiple players to move up on the Hurricanes depth chart. Here are five players that should challenge to move up to first-team during spring practice.

There has been a lot of excitement throughout the Miami football program this spring with the drastic changes to the Hurricanes offense and devastating pass rush they can create on the defensively. Injuries have taken their toll at other positions are creating opportunities for players to move up the depth chart.

Several high profile Miami football players are out with injuries this spring. Starting tight end Brevin Jordan, left guard Navaughn Donaldson, linebacker Sam Brooks and star freshman running back Don Chaney Jr. are just some of the Hurricanes out this spring with injuries. Opportunities abound for others to step up.

Graduations and early entrees to the NFL Draft have also allowed various Hurricanes the chance for increased opportunities this spring. Eight former Miami football players participated in the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week. Four departing seniors and four juniors will have to replaced as starters this fall.

Defensive ends, graduate transfer Trevon Hill and junior Jonathan Garvin were valuable to the Miami football team in 2019. The pass rush for the Miami football team should be improved in 2020 even with Garvin and Hill off to the NFL. Greg Rousseau, Quincy Roche and Jaelan Phillips give Miami an elite pass rush for 2020.

Graduated linebackers Shaq Quarterman and Michael Pinckney and wide receiver K.J. Osborn and juniors, wide receiver Jeff Thomas, cornerback Trajan Bandy and running back DeeJay Dallas also participated at the combine and have to be replaced in 2020. Opportunities are there for players to step up this spring.
