The Miami passing offense was improved under former offensive coordinator Dan Enos, but led by his replacement Rhett Lashlee and King, the entire offense should be much better in 2020. Miami finished
in 2019 averaging 249.2 yards per game. Under King, Houston averaged 271.1 passing YPG in 2018.
Under Lashlee, SMU finished 13th in the country in 2019 with an average of 309 passing yards per game in 2019. For his career, King completes 61.8 percent of his passes. Williams completed 61.2 percent in 2019 and Perry 53.5. As a team, Miami finished 83rd nationally with a 58.4 completion percentage.
King is an efficient passer and excellent all-around QB. He finished seventh in the nation in 2018 with a 167.04 passer rating. Williams was 37th in 2018 with a passer rating of 145.44. The 136.02 passer rating as a team placed Miami 59th in the country. Led by King the QB play for Miami should improve all-around in 2020.
Improved Pass Rush
Redshirt sophomore Greg Rousseau will lead what could become the top pass rush in the country in 2020. Rousseau leads all returnees in college football with 15.5 sacks in 2019. The losses of graduate transfer Trevon Hill and junior Jonathan Garvin at defensive end will be offset with the additions of Quincy Roche and Jaelan Phillips.
While Rousseau was making frequent trips into opponents backfields in the ACC in 2019, Roche was doing the same in the American Athletic Conference for Temple. Rousseau was second in the nation in sacks in 2019 and Roche finished seventh with 13 for Temple. Rousseau and Roche might not be the most talented DEs Miami has.
