Phillips was the number one overall recruit in the country in 2017. In 10 games with UCLA in 2017 and ’18, Phillips recorded 41 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and two pass breakups. Phillips could challenge Roche to be on the first team opposite Rousseau as a starter in 2020. All three will be primary in the DE rotation.
Let the Borregales era begin
By any measure kicking for the Miami football team in 2019 was a disaster. Bubba Baxa and Turner Davidson combined to make six of 13 field-goal attempts during the 2019 season. Camden Price steadied the Hurricanes by making six of his seven field-goal attempts, but all of his attempts were under 40 yards.

Price made all five of his attempts between 20 and 29 yards, but only 1-2 on FGAs from 30-39 yards. Former FIU kicker Jose Borregales who helped beat Miami in 2019 is a huge upgrade. Borregales has made 97.8 percent of his extra-point attempts and 75.8 percent of his field-goal attempts in his career.
Throughout his collegiate career, Borregales is 35-44 in his career from inside 40 yards, 11-16 from 40-49 yards and 4-6 from 50 yards or more. He will give Manny Diaz and special teams coach Jonathan Patke more opportunities to score in 2020. The Hurricanes won’t have to go for it as often on fourth down.
