The hiring of new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and the uptempo, spread offense he is installing plus the elite pass rush the Miami football team will have in 2020 could see several individual and program records fall in 2020.

Rhett Lashlee brings an offense to the Miami football program that fans and the Hurricanes media have been asking for for years. If Lashlee is able to get the most out of his players, several program offensive records could fall in 2020. The biggest record-setter could be new QB D’Eriq King.

As  Canes Warning previously discussed, King has a chance to have a transformative season for the Miami football team. If King lives up to the hype that has followed him from Houston to Miami, he has a chance to set several single-season and game records in 2020. The most obvious is rushing yards by a QB.

The most career rushing yards by a Miami QB is Malik Rosier with 831 from 2015-18. Rosier also had 12 career rushing TD and holds the single-season record for rushing yards by a Hurricanes QB with 451 during the 2017 season. All of those marks are within reach for King. King has 1,421 career rushing yards and 28 TDs.

At Houston, the single-season best for King was 674 yards rushing and 14 TDs in 2018. In 2019, King had 312 rushing yards and six TDs. King was on pace for 936 rushing yards and 18 TDs if he had played out his final season. King would have been

60th in rushing yards

and 10th in TDs in 2019 with those numbers.

Several passing records in Miami history have a chance to be broken by King this season. If the former Houston Cougars signal-caller has the kind of season that is expected of him in 2020, King can re-write the Miami record books by a QB. Both passing and rushing records by a QB are within his reach.
