The 72 receptions season by Hankerson in 2010 will almost definitely be challenged by either Harley or Jordan in the new high octane offense. SMU ran an average of 79.77 plays per game in 2019. Miami ran an average of 72 offensive plays in 2010 during Hankerson’s record-setting season.

Hankerson had 72 receptions for 1,156 receiving yards in 2010, also a Miami single-season record. The single-season receiving yardage record was broken three seasons later by Allen Hurns with 1,162. Proche finished the 2019 season with 1,252 receiving yards for SMU. Miami averaged 63.07 plays per game in 2013.

Nearly every offensive team record could fall in 2020, especially in the passing game. In 1984 the program season records were set with 279 completions and 3,826 passing yards. SMU had 313 completions and 4,017 passing yards in 2019. The most attempts were 465 in 1989, SMU had 503 in 2019.

The 2002 Miami football team, should have been National Champions, finished the season with a program standard 6,074 total yards. With Lashlee calling the plays for SMU in 2019 the Mustangs finished with 6,368 yards. With the sheer volume of plays Miami will run in 2020, the above offensive records are within reach.
