Polendey came to Miami known as a blocking TE. When Miami signed Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory as top ten 10 ends in the class of 2018 with the since-departed Michael Irvin II already on the roster, Polendey was not going to receive much playing time. Polendey finished his Miami career with one reception for 14 yards in 14 games.

The four 2017 signees that left Miami after their junior seasons are wide receiver Jeff Thomas, running back DeeJay Dallas, defensive end Jonathan Garvin and cornerback Trajan Bandy. All four had varying degrees of success with Miami. Dallas moves on to NFL after leading the Hurricanes in rushing in 2019.

Dallas signed with the Miami football program as an athlete. The injury of first-team RB Mark Walton caused Dallas to be moved to RB behind Travis Homer to add depth. Dallas ended his Miami career with 1,527 yards rushing and17 touchdowns and added 28 receptions for 317 yards receiving and another two TDs.

Garvin’s career somewhat resembled a bell curve. Garvin had an impact as a freshman in 2017 in limited playing time finishing with three tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. Garvin shined in the biggest moments in the nationally televised prime time games against Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.

Garvin had a  breakout season as a sophomore in playing next to second-team All-American defensive tackle Gerald Willis. The 60 tackles Garvin recorded led the Miami defensive linemen in 2018 and he added 17 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, five pass breakups and two fumbles recoveries, one of which was returned for a TD.
