Three Miami football alums named to NFL all 2010s team

Miami football alums, running back Frank Gore, defensive lineman Calais Campbell and return specialist Devin Hester were all named to the official NFL All-Decade Team Roster as released by the league on Monday.

The Miami football program continues to produce elite talent as evidenced on Monday when the NFL announced Hurricanes alums, running back Frank Gore, defensive lineman Calais Campbell and return specialist Devin Hester were named as part of the 2010s All-Decade team roster released by the league on Monday.

Gore has played 15 years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. Gore entered the 2019 season second in the decade in rushing yards behind one-time Miami commit LeSean McCoy and finished the 2010s with 9,786 rushing yards and 47 touchdowns.

The Coral Gables High alum added 244 receptions for 2,065 receiving yards and another 11 TDs. Gore was part of an exceptional backfield with the Miami football team that included former NFL Pro Bowlers Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee. Gore overcame a pair of torn ACLs in college to have a Pro Football Hall of Fame career.

In his Miami football career, Gore ran for 1,975 yards and 17 TDs and caught 23 passes for another 225 yards. Gore was a key part of the 2001 Miami National Championship team backing up Portis with McGahee while running for 562 yards on 9.1 yards per carry and five TDs. Gore is currently third in NFL history in rushing.

Campbell was ninth in the NFL in the 2010s in sacks entering the 2019 season. The former Arizona Cardinal and Jacksonville Jaguar who was traded to the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason finished the 2010s and 459 tackles, 81 sacks, 11 fumble recoveries and three TDs. He joins the Baltimore legacy of great Miami alums.

Hester is often regarded as the greatest kick returner in the history of the NFL. Hester made his second all-decade team after being named second-team punt returner on the 2000s all-NFL team. Making the team for Hester is an exceptional accomplishment for a player who retired from the NFL In 2015.

Hester returned averaged 12.1 yards per punt return for 2,059 yards and seven TDs and 5,036 yards in kickoff returns for a 26.1-yard average and another TD. The most electrifying return man in NFL history earned first-team all-pro three times including 2010. Hester holds NFL career records for non-offensive and return TDs.
