Wiggins showed burst and big-play ability in 2019 but was not able to be consistent for the Miami football team. The rising junior leads the Hurricanes returnees with four TD receptions and added 20 catches for 355 yards receiving and three carries for 30 yards in 2019. Most of Wiggins’ output came in a two-game stretch.

In back-to-back wins over Florida State and Louisville last season, Wiggins had seven receptions for 149 yards and three of his four TDs. All of those numbers except for the receptions would put Wiggins on an elite pace and might be somewhat unrealistic. Miami needs him to become a consistent big-play threat in 2020.

The depth Miami expected to have at WR has been depleted by transfers and an early departure to the NFL. Four-star WR’s Brian Hightower and Marquez Ezzard signed with Miami in the Class of 2018 with Pope and Wiggins and both transferred. Miami lost 2017 four-star signee, Jeff Thomas, to the NFL after last season.

Those moves, plus Payton being the only WR signed in the Class of 2019 leaves Miami woefully thin with experience behind Harley, Pope and Wiggins. The projected starting trio for Miami is the only WRs on the Hurricanes roster who are expected to make an impact in 2020 with eligibility above freshman.
