Jerome McDougle was selected 15th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2003 NFL Draft after they traded up 15 spots to select the All-American defensive lineman. McDougle struggled with injuries throughout his NFL career. McDougle played four seasons in the NFL with the Eagles and New York Giants.
McDougle missed the 2005 and ’07 seasons because of injuries. After playing one season in New York in 2008, McDougle retired with 38 tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks and five pass breakups. McDougle was far more impactful during his Miami career and a key defensive lineman in 2001 and 2002.
McDougle sat out in 2002 with Miami after transferring from Hinds Junior College in Mississippi. After making his debut in 2001, McDougle finished the National Championship season with59 tackles, 48 QB hurries, 15 TFLs, seven sacks, three forced three fumbles and one interception he returned for a TD.
A third-team All-American in 2001, McDougle was named first-team All-Big East in 2002. McDougle finished the 2002 season seventh on Miami with 55 tackles, was second with 16 TFLs, had seven sacks and added 26 quarterback hurries which were second on the Hurricanes. McDougle was a key performer for two seasons.
