The future non-conference schedules for the Miami football program has a Power five-team every season through 2028. Additions to the Hurricanes non-conference schedules through 2028 are likely to be Group of Five or FCS programs.

The Miami football non-conference schedule is set for the next two seasons and three of the next five. The next six Miami non-conference schedules have three of four possible games already slated. The 2020, 2021 and 2024 seasons are set with four games on the schedule. Miami needs to add one game in 2023 and 2025.

The 2022 season is the most urgent in upcoming years for Miami to add at least two games. Miami currently has games scheduled on September 10 against Southern Miss and September 17 at Texas A&M scheduled in 2022. It seems likely Miami will schedule an FCS and Group of Five team in 2022 to fill out the schedule.

Miami has two non-conference games scheduled against Power Five teams in 2021, ’24 and ’25. The Hurricanes open the 2021 season against Alabama in Atlanta. Michigan State travels to Hard Rock Stadium two weeks later for the return game after Miami plays in East Lansing in September 2020.

A likely Group of Five opponent could take on several possibilities. Keep an eye on the Hurricanes adding a team from Texas to increase its imprint in the Lone Star State. Houston and SMU seem like the most likely additions to the Miami football schedule. The Cougars and Mustangs would likely be more towards the middle of the 2020s.

With Texas A&M already on the schedule for 2022 and 2023, Miami might wait until 2024 or beyond to add Houston or SMU if that is the case. With the Aggies traveling to Miami Gardens in 2023, Miami might want to schedule a home and home in Dallas or Houston commencing in 2023. An FCS opponent would finish the 2022 schedule.
