Miami Hurricanes DC Blake Baker continually sends players to NFL
Ferguson finished one sack shy of the NCAA career record and he is third all-time in TFLs. The Baltimore Ravens chose Ferguson with the 85th overall pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The dominance Ferguson had under Baker is similar to the breakout season by Miami DE
as a redshirt freshman in 2019.
Rousseau had 54 tackles, 19.5 TFLs and 15.5 sacks last season after redshirting as a true freshman following a season-ending ankle injury in 2018. Two more Baker proteges from Louisiana Tech were selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. Safety L’Jarius Sneed and cornerback Amik Robertson were fourth-round picks.
Sneed was taken 138th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs and Robertson went one pick later to the Las Vegas Raiders. Sneed had 73 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, three interceptions, six pass breakups and one return for a TD. Ironically, the last game Sneed played was against Miami in the Bulldogs 14-0 win in the Independence Bowl.
Sneed had one tackle and two PBUs against the Hurricanes. Robertson skipped the Independence Bowl to get ready for the NFL Draft. Robertson finished his Louisiana Tech career with 184 tackles, 23.0, four sacks, 14 interceptions and three returned for TDs. Several Miami defensive players should be drafted in 2021.
