It would be interesting to hear their reasoning for the choices made in the games that they are deciding to air. NBC does not have nearly the archives of college football that ABC (ESPN) and CBS have. NBC aired the Orange, Rose and Fiesta Bowl for many years. A big part of that came during the Hurricanes dynasty.

The 1991 National Championship by the Miami football team came following a 22-0 victory over Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. Two short touchdowns and four Carlos Huerta field goals led the Hurricanes to victory over the Cornhuskers to capture their fourth national title in the 1992 Orange Bowl.

The Fiesta Bowl loss to Penn State was one of the most painful in Miami history. The loss to Nebraska in 1995 less so. The Hurricanes finished the 1994 regular season 10-1 led by a dominant defense led by defensive tackle Warren Sapp and linebacker Ray Lewis. Reliving great Miami teams will be intriguing.

The two losses are games Miami could have won. Nebraska wore Miami down in the last quarter and a half of the 1995 game with a five-minute advantage in time of possession. The 1987 Fiesta Bowl was lost because of five Vinny Testaverde Interceptions and the stubbornness of Johnson to rely on the running game.

The Hurricanes win in the 1984 Orange Bowl was one of the best games in the history of college football. It could have gone either way. Miami upset Nebraska who was being lauded as the best team in the history of college football at the end of the regular season. The 1988 Orange was a culmination under Johnson.
