The expected commitment of four-star tight end Elijah Arroyo to the Miami football program on Sunday night will push the 2021 Hurricanes recruiting class past USC and Minnesota into seventh nationally.

The 2021 Miami football recruiting class is expected to receive a big boost on Sunday night with the commitment of four-star tight end Elijah Arroyo. Arroyo is the 329th ranked player nationally, the 13th ranked TE and the 49th ranked player in Texas in the Class of 2021 according to the 247 Sports composite.

The expected commitment of Arroyo to the 2021 Miami recruiting class would push the Hurricanes to seventh nationally past Minnesota and USC. Arroyo would be a critical boost to the 2021 Miami recruiting class. The Hurricanes have 13 players committed for 2021, but Arroyo would be just the fifth four-star commit.

Arroyo would also become the first player outside of Florida and the second outside of South Florida to commit to the 2021 Miami football class. Three-star athlete Malik Curtis from Fort Meyers who committed to Miami last weekend is the most recent Hurricanes commit for 2021.

Miami is expected to lose rising junior Brevin Jordan to the NFL after the 2021 season. Jordan is expected to be taken in the first or second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Miami should have 2021 senior Will Mallory and Larry Hodges and Dominick Mamarelli who are expected to be sophomores in 2021.

Hodges is entering his redshirt freshman season in 2020. True freshman Mamarelli could redshirt in 2020. Arroyo who is from the Dallas suburb of Frisco, Texas runs a 4.6, 40-yard dash according to Andrew Ivins of Inside the U. Ivins is one of six prognosticators with 247 who project Arroyo to commit to Miami.

If Arroyo does commit to Miami he will be the fourth commit in less than two weeks. Curtis, defensive tackle Allan Haye and center Ryan Rodriguez have announced their intentions to sign with Miami commencing with Haye’s commitment April 22. Arroyo is the second skill position player to commit to Miami under Rhett Lashlee.
