According to CBS Sports, the Miami football team is the favorite to win the ACC Coastal Division. The Hurricanes are the second betting favorite to win the ACC at +800 trailing Clemson who is -600.

After adding three key transfers, the Miami football program is the second favorite to win the ACC at +800. Clemson is the expected betting favorite to win the ACC at -600. Because of the dominance by Clemson as the five-time defending ACC Champion, the Tigers top three challengers are expected to come from the ACC Coastal.

North Carolina who is the pick to win the ACC Coastal in 2020 is the third favorite overall and second favorite in the Coastal at +1400 and Virginia Tech is the fourth favorite overall and third in the Coastal and +1800. The remaining odds are later in this post. Miami lost to North Carolina and Virginia Tech in 2019.

Miami plays North Carolina at home and Virginia Tech on the road in 2019a. Miami won its last game in Blackburg in 2018. After a tight first half, the Hurricanes scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter to break open a tight game and head back to Miami with a 38-17 win. Virginia Tech won 42-35 at Hard Rock Stadium in 2019.

North Carolina defeated Miami 28-25 in Chapel Hill last season. Miami overcame a 17-3 deficit at the end of the first quarter to eventually take a 25-20 lead with under five minutes remaining. Special teams miscues and a failure to stop the Tar Heels on fourth and 17 in the final minutes contributed to a late loss.

North Carolina returns quarterback Sam Howell who will likely be the preseason second-team All-ACC QB behind Trevor Lawrence of Clemson. Virginia Tech returns QB Hendon Hooker who played well against Miami last season in the first start of his collegiate career. The Coastal will likely be between Miami, UNC and VaTech.

It will be imperative for Miami to get at least a split against the Tar Heels and Hokies. Miami is scheduled to host North Carolina on October 24 and travel to Virginia Tech on November 14. The ACC Coastal could be decided after Miami and Virginia Tech play. UNC and Virginia Tech play October 10 in Chapel Hill.
