The departure of four-star offensive tackle Issaiah Walker from Florida seemed to come under mysterious circumstances. The Miami football program has reportedly reached out to Walker to express interest.

Four-star class of 2020 offensive tackle Issaiah Walker who was an early enrollee at Florida has already announced his entry into the transfer portal. The front runners to sign Walker as a transfer appear to be Miami and Florida State. Several media outlets that cover the Miami football program seem to think Walker will sign elsewhere.

Walker was the 156th ranked player, 15th ranked offensive tackle and 24th ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2020. After de-committing to South Carolina and considering Miami last year, Walker committed to Florida in October and signed with Florida during the early signing period in December.

Walker played high school football at Miami Norland. Auburn is another school that Walker could consider. Houston graduate transfer offensive tackle Jarrid Williams, a former teammate of Miami quarterback D’Eriq King with the Cougars, is another offensive lineman the Hurricanes are in contact with about a potential transfer.

Andrew Ivins of Inside the U reported that Walker has been contacted by Miami and Florida State. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald stated in his column on Thursday that questions have been raised about some of the people close to Walker. The need for offensive tackles for Miami could override that.

Josh Newburg of Noles247, the partner site of Inside the U, reported that Walker is not expected to make a quick decision on where his next college destination will be. Walker reportedly was leaving Florida due to unspecified family reasons. Walker has spoken with Miami and FSU multiple times since entering the transfer portal.

Schools other than Auburn, Miami and Florida State are reportedly involved in Walker’s transfer decision. According to Ivins, the only known schools are Miami and Florida State. At this point, the various media outlets have the same impression that whatever schools Walker is considering he is keeping it mostly private.
