Miami Hurricanes OC Rhett Lashlee busy sending out QB offers

New Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee has been busy while quarantined sending out multiple scholarship offers to quarterbacks in the classes 2021 and 2022.

New Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee has been busy during quarantine sending out multiple offers to quarterbacks in the classes of 2021 and 2022. Miami has yet received a commitment from a QB in the class of 2021. The Hurricanes currently have two QBs that will be on the roster in 2022.

Miami loses graduate transfer D’Eriq King after the 2020 season and redshirt juniors N’Kosi Perry and Tate Martell will be off the Hurricanes roster by no later than the 2021 season. Rising redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha and incoming freshman Tyler VanDyke are Miami’s only projected QBs for 2022 and beyond.

According to a pair of reports Lashlee has sent out three scholarship offers to QBs. Andrew Ivins of Inside the U reported on Tuesday that Lashlee offered two-sport star Bubba Chandler a scholarship. Chandler has an offer from Clemson to play football and baseball and football offers from several other schools.

According to Ivins, Boston College, Indiana and Louisville are also interested in Chandler. Chandler had been committed to Georgia for baseball, but de-committed Monday night according to Ivins. Chandler is a Class of 2021 QB. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that Lashlee offered two 2022 QBs.

Dual-threat QB Kaden Martin who is the son of former Tennessee QB and current Volunteers wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Tee Martin and Cade Klubnik from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. Westlake is the same high school to produce former Superbowl MVPs Drew Brees and Nick Foles.

Martin has scholarship offers from 15 schools including Miami, Tennessee, and six other power five programs. After the family moved from Southern California where Tee was the offensive coordinator at USC is when Martin picked up the offer from Tennessee. Martin told Canesport he likes Miami because of the beach.

Martin is another two-sport star. He played on the baseball under 15 national team and wants to play baseball in college according to Jackson. Klubnik is highest on Auburn and Baylor. Klubnik has 13 offers with SMU and Texas State as the sole group of five schools he received offers from. The other 11 are from Power Five schools.

The Miami Hurricanes have offers out to 10 pro-style QBs for 2021 and five dual-threat QBs. Miller Moss and Aaron McLaughlin are the only uncommitted Pro-style QBs for 2021 that Miami has offered scholarships to. Demetrius Davis is the sole uncommitted dual-threat QB Miami offered who is uncommitted.

In the 2022 recruiting cycle Miami has offered five pro-style QBs and four-dual threat QBs. AJ Duffy from Rancho Mirage, California is the only one of the 10 currently listed as warm on Miami by 247Sports. Duffy is also strongly considering Oregon and USC and has offers from Arizona and Arizona State.
