Four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson from Miami Northwestern named the Miami football program as one of his top five programs for college. There are no crystal balls for Brinson, but Miami is one of the four schools he is listed as being warm for.

After the Miami football program lost out on five-star wide receiver Jacorey Brooks to Alabama earlier this week, four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson from Miami Northwestern named the Hurricanes as one of his final five schools he will be focusing on throughout the remainder of his recruitment.

Signing Brinson and fellow four-star WR Jacolby George is a priority for Miami in the 2021 recruiting class. In addition to Miami, Brinson is also considering Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M. Brinson is 134th ranked player, 24th ranked WR and 20th ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2020.

Brinson was recently named as one of the top 10 WRs in the Class of 2021 by Max Preps. Miami has yet to have a commit from a WR in 2021. George is expected to announce his college destination on June 6. Wide receiver will a position of focus for the Miami football program in the remainder of the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The Hurricanes are the favorites to receive commitments from George and four-star WR Malik Nabers from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Miami has also yet to receive a commitment from a QB in the 2021 recruiting class. That could be a key factor where Brinson decides to play. Brinson told 247 Sports the importance of the QB.

"That’s the one thing I’m looking for in college right now…I want a good quarterback, who can make good reads and is good at throwing it around the field.”"

Brinson has visited Miami, but not officially and not since Rhett Lashlee was hired as the new offensive coordinator in January. The Hurricanes also have a new WR coach, Rob Likens who was previously the offensive coordinator at Arizona State. Brinson told 247 he’s talking with Miami and discussed his decision process.

"“I’m talking to everyone there. We just had a big meeting on Zoom. I want to see more passes and more deep shots. Just stuff like that…Right now I’m just waiting for football to open back up. So when everything gets rolling then I’m going to make one (a commitment).”"

Brinson is the prototypical player for Miami in the 2021 recruiting cycle. With Lashlee and Likens teaming with new offensive line coach Garin Justice a lot of recruits are likely to wait and see how the Hurricanes new offense performs this fall. Miami needs to improve or it will be another cycle missing out on big names from South Florida.

If Lashlee can deliver an explosive, high scoring offense that is fun to play in, Brinson, George and Nabers could all sign with the Miami football program. That would be a huge boost for the Hurricanes and the future of the offense. Getting a commitment from a QB is also going to be critical for 2021.
