Ephraim Banda expects Miami football players who want to compete
Miami has three safeties returning who can all start this season. Rising senior
and junior
and redshirt junior
are all extremely talented and all provide Miami with a lot of depth at safety. Bolden is coming off a leg injury that ended his season in November.
"“With Bubba, I am excited where he’s at and I cant wait to get him on the field. he’s full go.”"
When Manny Diaz was hired to replace Mark Richt as head coach in December 2018, he said recruiting South Florida would be a priority. Banda discussed identifying players throughout Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties and creating relationships early in the recruiting process. Banda explained the process.
Banda said that Diaz has set up for the Miami staff to have two coaches in each of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. He relayed that the Hurricanes coaching staff knows the players before they transfer to the bigger powerhouse football programs. He also knows Miami has to win to get recruits interested.
"“We have to go out and win and get them excited about Miami. whenever they let us freaking go we will be successful this year. I know we are doing a great job finding players. some of them are going to leave. we have to get enough of them like we did this past cycle.”"
Players want to play for championships and Banda stated that it is the job of the Hurricanes coaching staff to get them excited about Miami. South Florida is the most fertile recruiting ground in the country. In the current landscape of college football even with Miami winning, some players are going to want to leave Miami.
Getting the best players exciting about the Miami football program, winning games and competition for ACC Coastal Divison title and conference titles should be the short term goal. Playing in ACC title games, particularly if it is against Clemson will help attract recruits. Miami can build on that in the future.
