The Miami football staff has been busy during the two months of isolation sending out scholarship offers and securing commitments for the class of 2021. Five prospects on defense are still highly considering Miami according to 247Sports.Com.

The 2021 recruiting class for the Miami football program currently ranks 14th nationally. With commitments coming quickly nationally, the movement on the national list has been shuffling rapidly. The highest-ranked commit to the Hurricanes on defense is defensive tackle Savion Collins of Palmetto High School in Miami.

Collins who is the 14th ranked defensive tackle in 2021 is expected to eventually flip to Florida. Although he is committed to Miami, both crystal balls on 247 project Collins to the Gators. Miami currently has Collins as the only DT committed for 2021, has two outside linebackers and two players projected at cornerback.

Three-star athlete Malik Curtis is an exceptional return man who can play offense or defense. Miami is projecting him at CB in college. The other defensive players committed to Miami are OLBs, Ja’Corey Hammett and Tyler Johnson and CB Tim Burns. Miami has work to do for 2021 in several positions.

The Miami football roster Defensive end likely needs to add depth for the 2021 football season. The Hurricanes will definitely lose incoming Temple graduate transfer, Quincy Roche. Greg Rousseau projects as a top 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is likely to forego his final two seasons of eligibility.

Rising redshirt junior Jaelan Phillips is also eligible for the 2021 NFL Draft and could choose to leave. Phillips sat out last season as a transfer from UCLA and has been injury-prone throughout his collegiate career. As the former top recruit in the nation in 2017, Phillips could be a day one or two draft pick in 2021.
