Florida took a knee on the next play and the Gators ran out the clock. Baxa was known more for the strength of his leg than his accuracy when he signed with Miami. An infamous graphic was shown during the 2018 season opener against LSU that Baxa was 4-10 on field goal attempts in high school.

Baxa had a good freshman year making 9-12 field goal attempts. Two out of his three misses were from 40 yards or more. Baxa did miss a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter against Florida State in 2018 with the Hurricanes leading 28-27. It was fortunate that did not come back to hurt Miami in a victory.

Borregales is nearly automatic from inside 30 yards. In three seasons at FIU where he is the school career leader in scoring, Borregales is 20-22 on field goal attempts from 29 yards and in. One of those misses came in the Panthers’ loss to Arkansas State in the Camellia Bowl last season.

Borreagales missed the field goal with FIU trailing Arkansas State 27-26 in the fourth quarter. The Redwolves scored a TD on the next drive to extend the margin so the missed field goal ultimately did not play a role in the final outcome. Borreagles made four other FGs on the day to keep FIU in the game.
