Multiple crystal balls over the past few days have projected four-star quarterback Miller Moss is on the precipice of committing to USC. The commitment by Moss could potentially have an impact on the Miami football program.

Four-star quarterback Miller Moss was high on the recruiting board for the Miami football staff. Moss narrowed his list of schools to Alabama, LSU, UCLA and USC. In the last few days, Moss has received 11 crystal balls that he will commit to the Trojans since Friday. A Moss commitment to USC could create a domino effect.

USC already has a commitment from four-star QB Jake Garcia. Garcia visited Miami last summer and Miami head coach Manny Diaz spent time with him in Los Angeles in January. There are conflicting reports about what Garcia would do if Moss commits to USC. Andrew Ivins of Inside the U speculated that Garcia could de-commit.

USCFootball.Com, the partner site for Inside the U, stated that USC is looking to sign two QBs in the 2021 cycle due to having just two QBs projected to be on their 2021 roster. Miami currently has two QBs that would be on their 2022 roster. The big question is would Garcia remain committed to USC or open his recruitment.

If Garcia does de-commit from USC, Miami would have to rebuild a relationship with him. When Garcia visited Coral Gables last summer, he worked out with former offensive coordinator Dan Enos and wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield. Enos was fired after last season and Stubblefield left for Penn State.

New offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and wide receivers coach Rob Likens would have work to do with Garcia to get him reinterested in Miami. Likens was previously at Arizona State who was also interested in Garcia. Miami is currently without a QB in their 2021 class. Signing a QB in 202 is critical for the 2022 season.

Miami has four QBs currently on their roster who will have eligibility remaining in 2021. Rising redshirt juniors, N’Kosi Perry and Tate Martell will have their last year of eligibility remaining in 2021. Either or both Perry and Martell could choose to leave as graduate transfers following the 2020 season.

Next. If Miami can't flip 4-star Jalen Milroe, QB unclear. dark

Long term, Miami has redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha and incoming freshman Tyler VanDyke as the only QBs currently on the Miami roster who will have eligibility remaining in 2022. Miami is continuing to try and flip four-star Texas QB commit Jalen Milroe. The Hurricanes could also seek a graduate transfer for the 2021 season.
