Four-star wide receiver Jacolby George can be the cornerstone to the 2021 Miami football class after announcing his commitment on Wednesday.
The commitment of four-star wide receiver Jacolby George to the Miami football program on Wednesday was a bit of a surprise. George was expected to announce his commitment on Saturday. The addition of George is a big boost to the 2021 Hurricanes recruiting class. George can become the cornerstone for Miami 2021.
George is the second-highest ranked commit to Miami for 2021 and the highest-ranked skill position player. Four-star guard Laurence Seymore is currently the highest-ranked commit to Miami in the 2021 recruiting class. George is the 158th ranked player nationally for 2021 and George is 178th.
New Miami wide receivers coach Rob Likens tweeted on Wednesday afternoon following the commitment from George “And so it begins.” That was an apparent reference to George being the first of his pupils to commit for 2021. Four-star WR Romello Brinson could be next. Brison will announce his commitment on June 13.
Miami signed four WRs in 2020. With the switch on offense from the pro-style to the up-tempo, spread offense of new offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, expect the Hurricanes to sign three or four WRs in 2021. Brinson is currently crystal balled to Texas A&M and the 132nd ranked player nationally.

Other WRs that are the most likely to sign with Miami are four-star Malik Nabers from Lafayette, Louisiana and three-star Breshard Smith from Palmetto. Smith is listed as an all-purpose back, but Miami is recruiting him as a WR. The commitment from Brinson should help the Hurricanes recruit other players for 2021.
Another WR Miami is recruiting heavily is four-star Jaden Alexis from Pompano Beach. Alexis is solidly projected to commit to Texas with all seven of his crystal balls behind the Longhorns. Dozens of other Power Five schools are on the list for Alexis, but Texas is well out in front. Alexis is three-stars and the 390th ranked player.
George committing to Miami gives the Hurricanes a commitment at all the skill positions on offense but quarterback. Four-star running back Thad Franklin and tight ends Elijah Arroyo and Khalil Brantley are good starts for Lashlee to work with in the future. George has a high ceiling to become the best player in Miami’s 2021 class.
