Rising redshirt freshman Jason Blissett enters the 2020 season as the utilityman on the defensive line for the Miami football team.

Rising redshirt freshman Jason Blissett signed with the Miami football team as a defensive tackle in 2019. During the offseason, Blissett lost 12 pounds and moved to defensive end.  Blisset will be a valuable defensive lineman for the Hurricanes able to play both tackle and end. Getting into the rotation will be a challenge.

The Miami football team enters the 2020 season with the best rotation at DE in the country. Rising redshirt sophomore Greg Rousseau leads the nation’s returnees with 15.5 sacks, rising redshirt junior Jaelan Phillips is eligible after sitting out last season following a transfer from UCLA.

Miami also added graduate transfer, Quincy Roche, from Temple. Roche was the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. Blissett made his collegiate debut against Bethune-Cookman and recorded two tackles and one tackle for loss. That was the only game Blissett played in 2019.

Blissett was a four-star signee with the Miami football program in 2019 as the nation’s 294th best player, the 22nd best defensive tackle and the third-best player in New York. Miami co-defensive coordinator Blake Baker likes the progress Blissett and classmates, Jared Harrison-Hunte and Jalar Holley have made.

At 6’4 Blissett has the reach to play outside and the strength and experience of playing inside. Harrison-Hunte, Holley and rising redshirt sophomore Jordan Miller project to be the future for Miami at DT. The Hurricanes return senior Jon Ford and junior Nesta Silvera as the likely starters at DT in 2020.
