The addition of Houston graduate transfer offensive tackle Jarrid Williams adds experience and stability to the Miami Hurricanes offensive line.

The depth chart for the Miami Hurricanes offensive line needs to be updated with the addition of Houston graduate transfer tackle Jarrid Williams. Williams will almost certainly slot in at one offensive tackle. The returning players and signees on the Miami offensive line will fill in around Williams.

Before Williams announced Sunday night he was transferring to Miami the only sure positions filled on the Hurricanes offensive line for 2020 were Corey Gaynor at center, Navaughn Donaldson at one guard sport and D.J. Scaife starting at either guard or tackle. Williams adds another sure starter to the Miami depth chart.

Williams seems most likely to start for Miami at left tackle. In 28 games at Houston, Williams made 19 starts, 17 at right tackle in 2018 and ’19 and two at left tackle in 2017. Houston had Josh Jones who was a third-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2020 NFL Draft at left tackle. Williams has proven ability at LT and RT.

The Miami Hurricanes’ early projections are that Williams will play LT. There are a few possibilities on the Hurricanes offensive line at right tackle. About 12.5 weeks before the season begins against Temple on September 5, Scaife and redshirt sophomore John Campbell seem the most likely to start at RT.

Scaife and Campbell are the likely starting right side of the Miami offensive line. One is likely to start at RT with the other at right guard. There has been a lot of projections that Donaldson will be the starting right guard. Donaldson started 12 games for Miami at LG in 2019 after starting 15 games at RG and six at RT earlier in his career.
