As the most experienced offensive lineman Miami has, Donaldson seems most likely as of now to stay at LG. The first-team offensive line for Miami from left to right seems like it will be LT Williams, LG Donaldson, C Gaynor, LG Scaife LT Campbell. Behind those five there is a lot of youth and inexperience.

Zion Nelson and Jakai Clark gained a lot of experience as part of a porous Miami offensive line in 2019. Nelson started all 13 games for Miami at left tackle in 2019. That was more out of necessity than anything else. There has not been enough development from the upperclassmen on the Miami offensive line.

Clark stated the final 12 games in 2019 for Miami at right guard. After not playing in the disastrous 10 sack performance allowed by the Hurricanes offensive line in the 2019 opener against Florida, Clark was moved into the starting lineup. Clark was signed as a center in 2019.

Clark and Nelson both project as part of the second unit on the Miami offensive line in 2020 if either or both do not take a redshirt. Freshmen tackles Issiah Walker and Jalen Rivers are likely to push for playing time in the Miami offensive line in 2020. Walker seems to be the most likely backup to Williams at LT.

Rivers would project as the backup at guard or to either Scaife or Campbell at RT. To add depth up front, Miami needs Kai-Leon Herbert and Zalon’tae Hillery to begin to make a contribution to the Hurricanes offensive line in their fourth season on the roster. The same goes for guard Cleveland Reed in his this year in Coral Gables.
