Andrew Ivins of Inside the U posted on Saturday morning that four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson is expected to announce which school he will commit to around 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday night.
Four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson is expected to announce which college football program he will commit to at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday night. Andrew Ivins of Inside the U reported when Brinson will make his announcement on Saturday morning. Miami appears to be the leader for Brinson.
Romello Brinson is the 132nd ranked player, the 25th ranked WR and 21st ranked player in Florida in the Class of 2021. Brinson would be the highest-ranked commit to Miami in the class of 2021. Four-star offensive guard Laurence Seymore is the 158th ranked player, ninth-ranked guard and 24th ranked player in Florida for 2021.
The addition of Brinson to their 2021 recruiting class would vault Miami from 14th to ninth just ahead of LSU in the rankings. Brinson would be the second WR to commit to Miami this month. Four-star Jacolby George re-committed to Miami last week after de-committing from the Hurricanes following their November loss to FIU.
Brinson also de-commited from Miami following the loss to the Panthers. The hiring of offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee with his up-tempo, spread and WR coach Rob Likens has made an impact with Brinson, George and four-star running back Thad Franklin. The spread will require a deeper roster of WRs.
Ivins reported that Brinson intends to announce which school he is committing to by releasing a short video to his Instagram and Twitter accounts. Brinson is having a small gathering of family and friends to commemorate his announcement. Miami is primarily competing with Georgia to receive the commitment from Brinson.
Brinson was able to visit Georgia in early March before collegiate athletics was shut down due to the Covid-19 virus. The new offense has been a selling point by Lashlee and his staff in securing commitments for 2021. The next player high on Miami’s list to commit is expected to be safety Kamren Kinchens July 11.
