Four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson who announced his commitment to the Miami football program on Saturday night and a grassroots movement from Hurricanes fans have started to push for four-star QB Jake Garcia to sign with Miami.

Shortly after announcing his commitment to the Miami football program on Saturday night, four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson began recruiting other players to join him. On June 1 Miami football fan @EndoGains began a  movement on Twitter with the hashtag #GarciatotheU and #Garciatothe305 for quarterback Jake Garcia.

Jake Garcia twice spent time in Coral Gables in 2019. At one point the Hurricanes were considered the favorite to receive a commitment from the nation’s 33rd ranked player, fourth-ranked pro-style QB and fourth-ranked player in California in the Class of 2021. Miami is currently without a QB commit for 2021.

Garcia is one of two highly ranked QBs currently commited to USC. Miller Moss is the 52nd ranked played, fifth-ranked pro-style QB and seventh-ranked player in California for 2021. Garcia is considered a lock to sign with the Trojans in December. Analysts have less confidence that Moss will hold his commitment to USC.

Brinson was on campus for one of the workouts that Garcia had throwing for previous Miami offensive coordinator and QB coach Dan Enos. Brinson told Inside the U at his commitment ceremony on Saturday night that he plans to go after Garcia and his Miami Northwestern teammate Kamren Kinchens in recruiting.

"“That’s who I’m going after, I’m going after Jake…I need to get Jake, Kam, you know, try to bring everybody back in.”"

The comments from Brinson and the power of social media have created a movement for the Hurricanes to receive a commitment and eventually sign their potential QB of the future. Although Miami does not have a commitment from a 2021 QB, the Hurricanes did sign four-star QB Tyler VanDyke in the 2020 class.

Van Dyke is not rated as highly overall as Garcia and Moss as the 220th ranked player in the Class of 2020, but he was ranked as the seventh-best pro-style QB. VanDyke was rated at .9174, Garcia .9827 and Moss .9758. It is going to take a lot of effort and a drastic change of mind from Garcia to flip his commitment in December.
