Miami Football commit TE Elijah Arroyo moves up 101 spots in 2021 rankings
Four-star 2021 Miami football tight end commit Elijah Arroyo moved up 101 spots in the rankings updated by 247 Sports on Wednesday.
Four-star tight end Elijah Arroyo is now the top-rated player in the 2021 Miami football recruiting class after he moved up 101 spots in the updated rankings released by 247 Sports on Wednesday. Arroyo is now the 124th ranked player, third-ranked TE and 20th ranked player in Texas according to 247.
In the composite recruiting rankings in the Class of 2021 curated by 247 Sports from multiple recruiting sites Arroyo is 229th overall, ninth-ranked TE and 37th in Texas. In the composite rankings, Arroyo is the fifth rated Miami player in 2021 behind Romello Brinson, Laurence Seymore, Jacolby George and Thad Franklin.
Arroyo is one of two Miami TEs commited for 2021. Three-star Khalil Brantley is also commited to the Hurricanes for 2021. Arroyo will arrive at Miami a few months after Brevin Jordan is expected to be selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jordan is entering his junior year in 2020 and projected to be a first or second-round pick.
In their analysis of the biggest movers in the class of 2021, 247 Sports mentions the history of success at TE for Miami and explains their reasoning behind Arroyo moving up. Miami will remain deep at TE in 2021. Will Mallory should return for his senior season and Miami also has Larry Hodges and Dominic Mammarelli.
"“Miami has a long history of stellar tight ends and Frisco (Texas) Independence tight end Elijah Arroyo could be the next great one at The U. He goes from being an 89 and a three-star with the biggest jump of anyone- to a four-star and the No. 124 prospect in the country and now the No. 3 tight end nationally in the 2021 class.”"
Arroyo is an athletic tight end who will provide the future Miami quarterback with a good target in the middle of the field. Arroyo has the athleticism to play wide receiver in high school. In his 247Sports scouting report, it also mentions that Arroyo has good lateral movement and is a reliable pass catcher.
After Mallory moves on following the 2021 Miami football season, Arroyo should compete with Brantley, Hodges and Mammarelli to be the starting TE on what will be a deep Miami team at the position. Arroyo has a chance to be the next great player at the position for tight end U.
