. Safety. Palmetto. Corey Collier. 84. 834. . player

The Miami football program is one of six that four-star safety Corey Collier is highly considering. Collier is part of the elite talent at Palmetto that includes other Miami prospects Taylor and wide receiver Breshard Smith. At 6’2, 170 pounds, Collier has the length Miami likes on defense but he will half to bulk up.

Andrew Ivins of Inside the U provided the scouting report for Collier. Miami is in a tough competition to sign Collier. The other five schools are Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and LSU. On the Through the Smoke podcast, Ivins and David Lake reported that Collier’s interest in Miami likely depends on the 2020 season.

"“A long frame with long limbs that doesn’t appear to be anywhere near close to being fully physically developed as the body is still maturing. Should add muscle mass once in college strength program which will make him more explosive. An intelligent defender with good ball skills that knows how to take the right angles. Seems to be more comfortable right now roaming the back end of the defense than he is in man coverage. Has the ability to run with most receivers once moving down the field, but struggles at times to change directions. Flashes physicality, but not the most sound tackler in space although he isn’t exactly afraid to run the ally. Projects as a starter at the Power 5 level that will likely need a year or two to develop before seeing the field. Has the potential to develop into a Day 3 draft pick.”"

As previously stated, Miami is not desperate to sign a safety for 2021. Avantae Williams, Hodges, Brian Balom and Keshawn Washington give Miami a lot of depth at safety in the future.

The Hurricanes recently moved rising sophomore Keontra Smith from safety to striker in the offseason. The potential remains for one of the above to become a striker in the future.

Entering its third season, Miami has primarily taken safties and moved them to striker. Gilbert Frierson who is projected to be the starter at striker in 2020 was previously a cornerback.
