Defensive end is going to be a likely going to be a position of need on the Miami football program after the 2020 season. Graduate transfer Quincy Roche has only one season of eligibility with the Hurricanes in 2020. Redshirt sophomore Greg Rousseau and redshirt junior Jaelan Phillips can leave for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jabari Ismael is a four-star DE who is the 217th ranked player, 14th ranked strongside DE and 30th ranked player in Florida in the class of 2020. Ismael’s father Victor is the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Miami football and golf teams. Miami is considered the prohibitive favorite to sign Ismael.
At 6’5, 210 pounds, Ismael is going to have to get add muscle. Ismael would give the Hurricanes length off the edge. Miami has yet to receive a commitment from a defensive end in the class of 2021. With young edge rushers Jahfari Harvey, Chantz and Cameron Williams the Hurricanes have a bright future at DE.
"“A lean frame with the ideal length to rush off the edge. Has a terrific reach. Will need add weight in college. Most effective in passing situations when he’s able to get outside. Equipped with a nice swim move, but still learning how to outmaneuver opponents with leverage. Looks somewhat comfortable in space as he has gotten snaps at linebacker in high school although man coverage isn’t exactly considered a strength. Tends to play high at times. Could develop into an all-conference type player for a Power 5 school with the right coaching. NFL ceiling given measurables.”"
Ivins provided the scouting report for Ismael. The addition of Ismael to the 2021 Miami recruiting class is likely inevitable. Ahead of the global pandemic shutdown, Ismael stated he wanted to take visits to other schools. Once he is ready to make a decision is it still expected that Ismael will sign with Miami.
